TERRESTRIAL ECOTOXICITY UNIT

The ecotoxicology studies on terrestrial organisms and on non target plants include investigations related to the effect of active substances on the environment, and evaluation of their impact on the relative number and/ or the biomass of elements of the ecosystem.

Main objective of this unit is to assess the products for plant protection in terms of efficacy and toxicity. This target is achieved through the availability of an Insectarium where Beneficial arthropods and pests are bred.

These insects are used to test substances on different substrates.

Beneficial Arthropods

  • Aphidius rhopalosiphi
  • Typhlodromus pyri
  • Aleochara bilineata
  • Poecillus cupreus
  • Pardosa spp.
  • Chrysoperla carnea
  • Coccinella septempunctata
  • Orius laevigatus
